We’ve seen some great mesh Wi-Fi systems over the last couple of years from the Dlink Covr, Linksys Velop and Netgear Orbi systems. Asus have upped the ante with their latest entry the AX6100 which is a pair of their RT-AX92U routers well and truly capable of handing WAN routing for NBN or (provided you have a modem) ADSL connections.

Think of it as future proofing your network because the highlight of the system is the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) connectivity that offers support speeds of up 6100Mbps which is beyond what a lot of connecting devices can even handle at the moment. This is delivered through a tri-band setup, one for connection between the mesh points (at up to 4808Mbps) which prevents the you losing bandwidth to keep the satellites connected and two for devices to maximise speed to you.

For the security conscious users, there is AiProtection Pro included. This is a router based internet security option powered by Trend Micro. Users have a number of functions including parental controls, site blocking (including filtering of malicious sites) and external attack protection.

Given the steady transition to NBN that Australians are making, having some protection on your network like this and capability to ensure that all devices are and remain connected is vital to our daily lives.

The AX6100 is available in Australia for $659.00 through a number of retail channels, check out the Asus where to buy for your local dealer.
