One of our great writers, Matty Booth, is currently at the HTC Velocity 4G launch event in Sydney checking out the device before it goes on sale tomorrow to consumers. When Telstra were asked about Ice Cream Sandwich for the Velocity 4G, they said that the update is currently in testing and should roll-out to users next month or so — a pretty open ended time frame, but a time frame nonetheless. The update will hit the Velocity 4G before the EVO 3D, Sensation and every other HTC phone on Telstra. So if you’re going to buy a Velocity 4G you can feel confident knowing you’ll have Ice Cream Sandwich very soon, and a phone on the fastest network in Australia now.

I just ordered mine.  Hearing that it will get ICS in the next couple of months just made my week.  Having played with the Nexus running ICS, this will be the first genuine Apple Killer.  The iP5 needs to pull every trick out of it’s hat.

Um no actually matty was not the one to have asked telstra that question.

Do you happen to know who then so I can credit them appropriately?

I asked about segregation of data and ability to tether, didn’t catch who asked about ics update during Q&A. I did ask the HTC rep about ics update prior to the Q&A and was given the exact same answer though
