If you’re hoping to jump aboard HTC’s new ‘One’ series bandwagon, now is your chance.. to buy a ticket for the bandwagon anyway. Telstra have opened up expressions of interest for the upcoming HTC One XL — the LTE (4G) version of the HTC One X. The only major differences between the two devices is the CPU and, of course, the inclusion of a 4G radio. The CPU change isn’t something to get up-in-arms about though, as although the One XL runs a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 CPU, it’s based off Cortex-A15 architecture which will rock your socks off.
No plans have been made public about the HTC One XL, however we’re thinking it can’t be any higher than what the HTC Velocity 4G launched on. So expect to see it for $0 on the $79 Freedom Connect Plan from the Big T. Now, how many of our readers will be signing up for one? It’s a pretty compelling device.
Loving the look and reviews but i want the One X “Go Quad Core”
You have a few things wrong here:- 1. They both have the same RAM. However, the XL has less storage. But yes, 16GB is too small on a flagship device. This is the same reason I got HTC Amaze instead of Sensation XL. Both devices are not very “XL” in that respect. 2. There are no device tests to confirm SOC performance. However, initial reports and benchmarks put them close to each other. This is likely to mean little to no perceivable difference in real world use, certainly not a deal breaker. Battery usage could be better on the quad… Read more »
Its killing me its not quad core…. – Not really a speed issue, but more of a battery issue without the 5th core mode. Lets face it 90% of the time, you will be out of 4G range so only using 3G (or slower 2G) OR you will be in range of a wi-fi (which is probably faster than 4G and less hungry on battery) AND only having 16gb or memory on the XL ? that’s a deal breaker right there. From the specs I see on HTC’s website, the One X supports fully Telstra and Optus – 850mhz/900/1900/2100 hspa/wcdma out of the… Read more »
Love at first sight.
I am sooo tempted but I must be patient.
Phone is sexy as… I want. Samsung better announce something special in the S3 soon to make me want to wait…
Also don’t want to get picky… but Qualcomm license the tech from ARM, so this chip isn’t A15 based. It’s there own core.. probably closer to A9 than A15.
That said: Krait > Tegra 3 imo.
I will be! I jumped ship from Optus to Vodafone 15 months ago and have just managed to wriggle out of the contract due to poor reception. I have to wait till mid April for the HTC One XL… I can’t wait any longer… must… have… new… TOY!
