Gmail
If you updated your Gmail Android app this morning you would have noticed a nice surprise in your notification panel, the ability to Archive or Reply straight from the Notification. The notification is only really useful if you don’t get email by the bucket load, but for individual emails that trickle down it’s quite a nice addition. The newly updated notification now makes your expanded Gmail notification look a little something like this :

Unfortunately the notification improvements are only available for devices running Android 4.1 and above. If your device isn’t running Jelly Bean, fear not; Google has included faster search for users on Android 4.0 and above as well as giving users on Android 2.2 and above, performance improvements as well as New Labels API for 3rd-party app developers.

Can you just uninstall your current Gmail app and install the version off the play store? I find it hard to believe it wouldn’t update on sense when the Gmail app itself comes straight from Google Play.

Works on my HTC One X with Sense 4+ – you have to reverse-pinch the notification to expand it and display the archive and reply buttons (as well as a summary of the message.

How exactly do you reverse-pinch? Thanks for your help!
