Android 5.1.1 for Android Wear is slowly making its way to our wrists, but at the time of writing, it’s only on your wrist if you’re the owner of an LG Watch Urbane of ASUS ZenWatch. If you’ve got it, you might like to take a look at the new version of Google Play Music that’s on your watch — it’s suddenly got a fair bit more useful than it has been.

Play Music now allows users to navigate through their music from their watch, instead of just controlling play, pause, next, back and volume. Three new options allow users to explore Listen Now, Recent Playlists and Radio. Listen Now allows users to select recent albums, playlists and radio stations that you’ve listened to via your phone or other logged in devices. Recent Playlists gives you songs you’ve previously thumbed up (it’s an auto-playlist), other songs and playlists you’ve recently added, and free and purchased songs. Radio is pretty self evident, returning the radio stations that Google Play Music All Access users have access to.

These are likely to be welcome features for those who want to control their tunes without having to bring their phone out of their pockets or bags. It’s a good way to save time and effort on the go, which is exactly what Android Wear is all about.
