Since the launch of Android Pay, we have seen a couple of rounds of new financial institutions being added to the ranks of supporting bank and credit unions. Today that number increased by at least one, with Australia’s ING Direct firstly being added to the official list of support Banks and then card registration going live.
I can personally confirm the registration works just fine, and with its integration, with their Android App for verification, it was the easiest card to add yet. If you’re with ING Direct grab the Android Pay app and see if you can add your debit card.

If your bank isn’t on the list remember it’s easy to switch banks, even if it’s just your credit cards.
If you don’t have the app grab it below.
If your bank doesn’t support Android Pay are you about ready to make the switch? Let us know below.
Dumb question time. What is the difference between Android Pay and banks like NAB that have an app that uses the Android NFC for touch and go payments from your mobile?
Not dumb at all, Android Pay offers two things, first Contactless payments, and secondly support for in-app or online purchases. Essentially the benefit, once it’s widely adopted, is that you’ll be able to select Android Pay at checkout in apps or websites as well as at the literal checkout in a store. NAB and others you’ll still need to pull your CC out and enter in the numbers when making a purchase online.
1. I don’t have any credit cards to switch.
2. Having to update direct debit details is a PITA.
Interesting. Isn’t ING owned by CommBank?
ING Direct is a wholly owned subsidiary of the multinational Dutch bank, ING Group.
I remember reading that they sold their local subsidiary to ANZ a while back
That was ING Insurance which was a joint partnership with ANZ, which is now wholely owned by ANZ and has been rebranded.
I think you are thinking of bankwest, the other orange bank.
Just bought some stuff at Coles with Android Pay, works amazingly well
