The roll out of Google Assistant to phones other than the Pixel phones has been inconsistent and confusing. We have seen some random phones get it when their language was set to US English and some get it when set to Aussie English. In the end though Google had NOT YET officially launched it for us on non-Pixel phones but that has now changed with them announcing the roll out today.

On their Australian blog Google have announced that Google Assistant is coming to smartphones running Nougat and Marshmallow. The Google Assistant will automatically arrive on all eligible phones running Google Play services. Google also made mention that you will see them running on “some recently announced partner devices, including Nokia’s 3, 5, 6 and 8 devices.”

The Google Assistant is now showing up on a number of devices for Ausdroid readers including on the Nexus 5X and even my Sony Xperia XZ Premium.

Many of us have seen it on their non-Pixel devices for a while but that seems to have been a soft roll out to test it here. Now everyone can enjoy using the best digital assistant available at this time. Try it out on your phone and let us know what you think? What do you use it for?

Turned up on my Moto g5 plus today

Caz

I hate it. Its very intrusive, its like a virus that has infected all aspects of my google experience. It couldve been made by Apple, with how it dictates your usage.

My Moto Z went in to get new camera glass and came back with 7.1.1 and assistant on it. It’s very clever, along with the Google Home.

Barry

I got it yesterday (18/08/17) Sony Experia m4 aqua
