The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL aren’t yet on-sale or up for pre-order in Australia but thanks to those pesky internal memos we have a date for when they’ll be in-store: October 31st.

The information comes from our own source who sent through the memo from Telstra – the exclusive Australian carrier partner for the Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL – which was sent out to staff to prep them for the on-sale date for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. This date has been corroborated by a screenshot from a JB HiFi group chat which was sent to Lifehacker last week about the launch date of the Pixel 2 – but no mention was made of the Pixel 2 XL, but now it seems both will be available on October 31st.

The pre-orders go live for Telstra on October 20th, which was announced after the Pixel event last week. Pre-orders will all be eligible for the free Google Home Mini, and now we have a date for when the orders will actually be in hands. Unfortunately we don’t have any plan information for the Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL as yet, but we’re working on it.

Do you have any information on pricing or plans for the Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL? Let us know.

Dan, any idea on whether Telstra or JB might have devices instore to play with/look at before the pre-order finishes on launch day like they do in the US?

And I guess they won’t be Telstra blue ✅ tick? If not then Note 8 (or Mate 10 pro) is the only choice for my Note 5 upgrade.

The information I have in regards to the launch of pixel 2 in Australia is that the prices are too high. I don’t understand how this will help android if they’ve made a high premium price barrier between people and their stock os which is the best way to experience android in my opinion. RIP NELXUS. I’m really at a loss as to how to rectify this situation when I plan to upgrade

Moto X4 maybe or the Xiaomi Android One phone? I just wish Google offered the payment plan in Australia as I really don’t want to sign up with Telstra for a 24 month plan and I’m not real keen on dropping $1400 for an outright purchase either.

Looks like captca only fails when replying to “https://ausdroid.net/2017/10/12/pixel-2-pixel-2-xl-will-go-sale-31st-october-telstra-jb-hi-fi/#comment-143279”, anyway here is my reply:

JB will probably only have the 32 GB (lowest capacity) versions which is the only reason I have never bought one from them.

Any word on how easy an upgrade will be for those with a Pixel on Telstra with the “Telstra new phone feeling” add-on? Should be able to just walk into the store and upgrade on the 31st right?

As long as you’ve passed your 12 month date (12 months into your contract), and the handset you hand back to Telstra still meets the ‘in good working order’ T&C’s (no physical or liquid damage) then yeah sure. Depending on stock levels though it may be difficult.

Are there any pros and cons between ordering direct from Google v JB HIFI?

Any idea about direct from google? would it be the same date?
