It seems Google has a small leak today, along with images of the new Nest Audio we have also gotten a full look at the new Chromecast with Google TV and its remote. While the dongle is as expected it seems the remote has been slightly updated since the original leaks.

The ‘Sabrina’ dongle features an HDMI out on a short lead, a USB-C charging port and not a lot else. The updated remote includes a D-pad and buttons for: Assistant, back, home, power, volume, mute, YouTube, Netflix and an unexpected input switcher.

We are perplexed at the input switcher if the dongle had a dedicated line in allowing the dongle to become a device switcher it would make sense. Perhaps Google is hoping the Google remote may use CEC to act as a universal remote.

With less than two weeks until the 2020 Made by Google event, we won’t have long to wait to find out.

Switcher must be CEC, which would be useful for some. Wonder if the volume also does CEC.
