This afternoon Huawei has announced three new products coming to Australia – the updated Huawei Watch GT 2, the active noise cancelling Huawei FreeBuds 3, and a new obsidian black variant of the venerable Huawei P30 Pro.
Available in four styles and two different sizes, there’s a Huawei Watch GT 2 for everybody. Each of them is powered by the company’s new Kirin A1 wearable processor, and certain variants – the 46mm size – support Bluetooth calling as well, though sadly there’s no eSIM / built-in 4G variants.
With battery life up to two weeks in the 46mm variant, the Watch GT 2 is designed to go the distance.

In better news for Australians, the Huawei Watch GT 2 will actually be sold at retail, unlike the original which was offered only as a bonus with certain phone purchases.
The 46mm variant will range in price from $399 for the Sport edition – with elastomer band – to $499 for the Elite variant with metallic band. The Sport and Classic models go on sale this week, and the Elite variant will come in December. Expect to see them in a range of stores including JB HiFi, Harvey Norman, Good Guys, and other Huawei authorised retailers.
The 42mm variant will range in price from $369 to $449, with availability from later thsi month.
Other products announced include the FreeBuds 3 in-ear earphones, which are claimed to be the world’s first open-fit, active noise cancellation Bluetooth earphones.
With 20 hours of playback time (including some time in the recharging case) and active noise cancellation, the FreeBuds 3 promise strong, effective noise cancellation and also clear speech when on phone calls using a built-in bone sensor to help differentiate between speech and background noise.
Also utilising the Huawei Kirin A1 chipset, the FreeBuds 3 will reduce Bluetooth interference and – with compatible handsets – independently pair with your phone to minimise the signal delay between source and your ears.
FreeBuds 3will retail for RRP AUD$299 and are available in two colours this week, from Vodafone, Optus Selected Stores, Amazon, Mobileciti, Kogan, Happytel and Huawei Authorised Experience Store.
Last, but not least, a new stylish Black variant of the Huawei P30 Pro goes on sale this week. It includes all the same capabilities as the original P30 Pro — including the Leica Quad Camera setup, class-leading battery life and vivid screen.
For those who are fond of a black phone, it’s now – finally – available after being on sale overseas for some time. Huawei P30 Pro Black is now available at JB HiFi, Mobileciti and the Huawei Authorised Experience Store for $1,399.
