The launches from Google’s October 4th Made By Google Event keep on coming, this time with the Google Home Max arriving in stores in the US. The speaker is launching in retailers Best Buy and Walmart, as well as through carrier Verizon and of course through the Google Store online.

The Google Home Max is priced at $399USD and is available in two colours – Chalk (White/Grey) and Charcoal (Black). Home Max is a big speaker, it features two 4.5-inch high-excursion woofers and is 20 times louder than Google Home. It features a Google AI powered function called ‘Smart Sound’ which can automatically adapt itself based on where it’s placed in the room, to give you better quality sound.

Just like Google Home is designed to blend into your home, Home Max is designed to sit either vertically or horizontally on your shelf, whichever you find better.

Home Max has all the same features of Max, including support for all your music streaming services (and you can cast to it), it can answer questions and control your smart home devices and become a feature in your multi-room audio group – a bonus when it comes to adding some needed bass into your Home audio setup.

Home Max is US-only at launch, but at the Made by Google event in October, Rishi Chandra, Vice President of Product Management and General Manager of Home Products at Google said that Home would ‘initially launch in the US, with more countries coming early next year’, so the wait is now on for an Australian launch.
