When announced at CES there was a single NotePro with a screen size of 12.2", but three TabPRO tablets with screens ranging from 8.4", through 10.1" and up to 12.2". Samsung Galaxy Beam successor spotted in China

At MWC 2012, Samsung announced a smartphone with a pico projector embedded in it known as the Galaxy Beam. As a concept it ticked all the boxes, however it had a few major downfalls such as poor battery life, large body, older version of Android and most importantly, the projector ended up being fairly dim, essentially ensuring that the Galaxy Beam never really took off in either the consumer market or the business arena where a projector could be an asset. Fast forward to 2014 and based on a filing with TENAA China (China's equivalent to the US based FCC),... Continue reading

Galaxy S5 Zoom is coming – 19MP sensor on-board

With the launch of the Galaxy S4, Samsung went ahead and released a range of phones based on the S4 name, and it appears that they're about to repeat the process. While a Galaxy S5 Active probably won't be released this time due to the Galaxy S5 coming with IP67 protection, a Galaxy S5 Zoom seems to definitely be on the cards. Like the S4 Zoom before it, the S5 Zoom will again not quite live up to the specs of the original. The camera focused phone has shown up on GFXBench showing details of the hardware including the screen,... Continue reading

When the Android 4.3 update was finally delivered to Australian carriers there was much rejoicing from owners who have been waiting for an update to their phones which have been left languishing on Android 4.1.2 for over a year. But the celebrations appear to be short lived with Vodafone advising in their latest Software update that Samsung has pulled the Android 4.3 update. Virgin Mobile has announced today that they will offer double data when you sign up for a 24 month contract on their $60 and $90 plans, including their BYO plans from today until the 11th of May. While there's a whole host of phones available to sign up for - They're using their Galaxy S4 4G option on the $60 plan to highlight the offer. The skeptic in me says they're possibly trying to clear some Galaxy S4 stock before a launch of the Galaxy S5 next month. If you want the Galaxy S4, it is available on the... Continue reading

Galaxy S5 Apps pulled and posted on XDA to download

If you're champing at the bit to get access to a Galaxy S5 to try out all the new features and Apps, then perhaps you won't actually have to wait till the April launch. XDA-Developers member Albe95 has posted a thread over on the forum which contains links to the APKs for a whole host of the apps that will be included on the S5 when it launches. There are some issues with the Apps - the S Health App apparently doesn't work - but apparently most of the others work with no issues. He's put the APKs for... Continue reading

Samsung posts pretty comprehensive hands-on videos of the Galaxy S5, Gear 2 and Gear Fit

The Galaxy S5 and the companion wearable - Gear line of products is popular, very much so, and with over a month between announcement and launch of the products, Samsung is doing their level best to keep them in the forefront of the public's eye and has released a couple of fairly comprehensive 'Official hands-on' videos for both the phone and the Gear 2 and Gear Fit (why no love for the Neo?). The Galaxy S5 really runs through everything and if you're planning on picking up one of these bad boys when they launch at some stage in April,... Continue reading

Samsung Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit Australian pricing leaked

The Samsung Galaxy Gear got a fairly tepid response from its release last year, but this year at Mobile World Congress, Samsung's new line of Gear devices have received a much warmer welcome and there's keen interest in where, when and how much they'll be at launch. While we don't have dates, we do have pricing and have been advised that they'll be launching at one phone retailer soon. The pricing we've been given is apparently correct and should be in line with RRP around other stores when they announce their pricing. The Gear 2 will cost $370, the camera-less,... Continue reading
