Customers of one of Australia’s largest electric car charging companies Evie Networks are currently suffering a multi-hour outage where they cannot use the app or associated RFID cards.

The reference to Braintree in the error message suggests that there is a problem with Evie’s connection to 3rd party payment processing company Braintree which provides Evie with a way to¬†accept payments from customers.

I first noticed the outage at 10 am on Tues 29 Nov, and there was no ETA for a fix as of 1 pm when I spoke to Evie’s social media team on the phone though they hope to have an update after 2 pm.

A clear cut situation where old tech is better. Full service petrol stations and cash, still works even if a payment processor is down.
