The rumoured Razer gaming focused phone is probably launching soon, so that means we’re getting lots of leaks. The phone has shown up on both GFXBench and now in the wild, so we can get an idea of what could be under the hood, and what that hood looks like.

The in the wild shot of the phone is from Slovakian tech site TechByte and appears to be taking design cues from the blocky Nextbit Robin, an understandable comparison given Razer purchased the company earlier this year. A dual-camera sensor with flash is seen in the top left of the image, with the familiar Razer logo. Other than that there appears to be a volume rocker on the side of the phone.

So, what’s underneath? Well, the only information we have is from a GFXBench result (which can be easily faked) that shows a phone with a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 8GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, 5.7″ QHD (2560×1440) resolution display and a 12MP rear camera and 8MP front camera.

The teaser for the Razer announcement isn’t conclusive, but one reason we’re pretty sure it’s for a Razer phone, is this tweet from Mike Chan Co-Founder and ex-CTO of Nextbit who sure is excited about the November 1st announcement:

We’ll be finding out more in a couple of weeks, so if you’ve been waiting for a gaming focused phone then this should be right up your alley.

okay, the phone was shown, but nothing on the site yet? Dropping the ball, are we? 😉

I’m hoping it keeps the headphone jack (the absence of which has turned me away from the Pixel 2).

I guess you would know it by now, but nope, it didn’t keep it, but has a great DAC dongle included in the package for superior sound. The advantage as I see it, is that you can use either their dongle, or other after market dongles, since most phones will be moving that way and tehre will be a bigger selection to choose from in the near future.
