In the latest update to the Google app, rolling out now, a new option to customise the look of the search bar is now appearing.

The option to customise the search bar is appearing for users updating to the latest version of the Google App Beta – version 7.14.15. It’s easy to miss the updated search bar, but you’ll note that there’s now a menu allowing you to choose ‘Customize’, which opens up an editor with four options.

The customise option lets you choose between two versions of the Google logo, shapes for the search bar, colours and transparency. There’s limited options available but perhaps this could be expanded in the future.

This is only available for the Beta Google App which is rolling out to those signed up to the Google Beta program, or if you just want to give it a go you can download the APK from APKMirror.

    7.14.16.21 doesn’t have this feature.

Was just going to post that I didn’t see this in 7.14.16.21. Google probably pulled the feature due to an issue with certain customisations.

I read elsewhere that it’s server side.

I love the dark version of the search bar. Very nice update.
