Australia Post has just released their third App for Android(and iOS), with this app centring around personalising the parcels you send. The new Video Stamp App is a way to add a personal video message to parcels you send.

The Video Stamp is available for free when you purchase any Express Post or Express Courier International item from any participating Australia Post retail outlets. When you post an item simply pickup the Video Stamp form which includes a sticker to place on your article and then when you’re ready, scan the corresponding QR code in the Video Stamp App and start recording your video.

You’ll need to record a video within 12 hours of sending the parcel and the video will remain active for up to 90 days. At the other end, the recipient scans the QR Code or scans the 8-Digit code which links to the video you have recorded and can see your recording.

Good for Birthdays, Christmas, Anniversaries or just saying hello, it sounds like a great idea, as Australia post say in their FAQ though – ‘If you wouldn’t put it on a postcard, don’t put it in a Video Stamp.’ So, no Sexting using the Video Stamps please…unless you’re into that.

Personally, this is what YouTube is for, but then again, it’s not a bad way to do something that is pretty personalised, you can try it out now at any participating Australia Post outlet.

In the promo video, the video sent was not the same one received by “mum”. Fail.
