Since Instagram launched, users have been using third-party apps to create various layouts not available within the Instagram app. From photo-booths to collages, there’s still a lot the Instagram app doesn’t offer, that changes today, with the launch of Layouts.

Layouts from Instagram is a new standalone app that adds the option to create collages from your camera roll. You can access all your photos, or use the new ‘People’ option which automatically shows you all the photos containing pictures with people in them.

From there, you have complete artistic control. Drag and drop photos to rearrange them, pinch to zoom or pull the sides of each photo to adjust its size and get your layout just right. Then flip and rotate your photos to create cool arrangements and mirror effects.

But it’s not just collages, you can also create photo booth shots, with Layouts able to take and then let you take four shots from your front-facing camera to really capture those ‘spontaneous moments’.

Layouts are able to be shared to Instagram but if you don’t actually have an Instagram account, you can also share your Layout to to a Text or other places – though at this stage it’s not clear exactly where.

The app is only available for iOS at this stage, though Instagram has announced that an Android version will be available ‘in the coming months’.
