The modern tech landscape is all about co-operation and inter-operability, well actually it’s all about platform lock-in and proprietary standards but it should be about user-focused co-operation and inter-operability. Today at least two more companies have joined forces to provide inter-operability for their respective users.

Google Apps for Work and Box have announced a partnership where Box users will be able to share and collaborate on Google Docs, Sheets and Slides from within their Box storage accounts. That means Box users will have the ability to share and collaboratively edit documents using Google Docs as a first party editor. That makes Box on par with Drive for Docs integration.

The pair also announced that Box will integrate with Google’s Springboard search product allowing Google for Work users to deep search within the files on Box. This is a good business move for both providers, as it may make switching or interesting to either of their products more appealing.

If you’re a Apps for Work user and you have Box you should check it out.
