The newly announced fitness tracking effort from Google – Fit, is about to get a bit more interaction from developers. Google has this morning announced a new competition for developers to build and submit apps for the platform for the chance to win prizes.

Developers are being invited to either create or update an existing app to interact with Google Fit, and show it off to judges, who will chose up to six new apps and six existing apps to win prizes. The major winners can expect their apps to be ‘featured on Google Play in front of Android users around the world’, while runners up will receive smart devices from Google, adidas, Polar, and Withings.

The challenge begins today, running through until the 17th of February 2015. Interested developers can read up on the challenge, as well as enter on the Google Fit Developer Challenge website. Google is also encouraging interested developers to join the Google Fit Developer Community on Google+.
