Looks like Google has made a bit of a boo boo this morning with some Pixel XL owners reporting they’ve been prompted to download a new Googler only version of the May security update.

The update is being dogfooded by Googlers on the Pixel XL before the release to the public of the update early next month. According to at least one Ausdroid reader, James, the update downloaded and installed on his handset which now has a security patch level of May 5th, with build N2G47O.

James doesn’t appear to be the only one either, with a couple of reddit users also saying they’ve been prompted to download the update.

These updates are usually fairly stable at this point, but Google may right the ship at some stage, or just continue to let the build run its course. Either way, we’re not expecting anything earth shattering in terms of fixes or visual changes in the update.

Thanks: James.
