One of those useful apps that you’ve probably never installed unless you went on holidays somewhere, is Field Trip. It’s released by Google subsidiary, Niantic Labs, creators of the social game Ingress. They’ve updated the app to version 2.0 which brings with it Material Design, better location capture and some cleaner, easier to use features.

The ease of locating local points of interest is as simple as zooming in on an area of the map which (assuming your’re in an area with points of interest) will display markers and some basic notes on each. A simple tap on any of the cards which appear at the bottom will expand the card completely, with an information summary of that location.

If you’ve not yet checked out Field Trip, it’s worth it even in your own local area; I found some fascinating little gems to explore in the area I grew up in that I never knew existed. Grab the app via the Play Store link below.

I installed is solely to complete an Ingress mission that had Field Trip points of interest.

    ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I installed it because it looked pretty interesting. Already found things in my local area that I didn’t know existed.
