Samsung

Following the release of Android 6.0 to AOSP and updates for Nexus and Android One handsets beginning, Android OEMs have their development teams in overdrive in an effort to be among; if not the first to update their latest devices. We’ve already seen that HTC, Sony and Motorola have listed which of their devices are in line for some Marshmallow action. Officially, Samsung has yet to comment, but overnight SamMobile has dropped a list of devices they’re advised will get the update.

It’s important to note that this is an unofficial list, but given the age of the models listed, it’s highly likely to be correct.
NB. Many of the listed devices by SamMobile are US carrier specific or European variants which we have condensed to this list.
The list from SamMobile includes

  • Galaxy S5
  • Galaxy S6
  • Galaxy S6 Edge
  • Galaxy S6 Edge+
  • Galaxy Note 4
  • Galaxy Note Edge
  • Galaxy Note 5 variants

It is important to note that just because your phone doesn’t appear on this list, that it doesn’t mean you’re not getting the update. More that your phone hasn’t been listed yet for the update, so don’t despair.

What phones aren’t on this list that you think should see Android 6.0 soon?

Yeah…. Sammy doesn’t want to update your phone with no more than 1 major update ?

I have zero hope of seeing 6 for the Note 3. Even though the rest of the world has had 5.0 for months, all three Australian carriers still have nothing past 4.4.2 and no sign of anything further.
Why I’ve gone to the Temasek custom ROM. Have had 5.1.1 for months already. And he is about to start on 6.

It still sucks even if it gets 5.0 because Samsung hasn’t even bothered to introduce the note 3 to 5.1.1. I really don’t understand why they bother to keep updating the note 3 to the least stable version of lollipop…
