Google has taken the opportunity to welcome the next batch of Daydream ready phones to the market, as previously only the Pixel, Pixel XL and the Moto Z were able to use Google’s new Daydream VR platform. Now Google has officially welcomed 4 more devices into the fold, the ZTE Axon 7 (as announced at its launch), ASUS ZenFone AR, Huawei Mate 9 Pro and Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design.

There are no real surprises in that list but it’s nice to see Google promote their partners and alongside this, they have launched a new mini site to showcase Daydream compatible devices. You can check in on any new or upcoming devices as well as register for updates from the Google VR team.

Google also showed off Huawei’s upcoming Daydream headset and controller, though they were unable to confirm any pricing or an exact release date, just that it was coming. The headset features an adjustable focus to help get things looking perfect, an optional over the head strap and what look to be a more central headband.

The Huawei Daydream headset may actually be more comfortable than the Daydream View which sort of needs to be fastened to your forehead rather tightly. Their Daydream controller looks exactly like Google’s offering and could in fact just be the same device in a different colour.

Is Daydream compatibility something you’re looking or in your next device?

The current daydream controller is a fair bit more comfortable if you move the band up a bit higher on the back of your head. It evenly distributes the weight over your face rather than the whole bit handing on your forehead.
